BOWTREADER WEEKLY: A Shoot for the Soldiers

Good morning! We’re happy to be back. Last week was a great shoot on Sylvester’s beautiful Southern Woods Plantation! Next week will be yet another shoot in Athens and there are three to come after that. But between all of our shoots far from home, we are going somewhere close to shoot in our natural hunting conditions. We are happy to announce our next shoot on a WMA just outside of Savannah, Ga.

We are very thankful for these guys allowing us to come out and shoot. Sure, there aren’t steep hills like we saw in Forsyth or mountains like we’ll see in Rome, but there’s something significant about shooting in the climate you normally hunt in that helps get you prepared!

We encourage people year round to practice and condition to prepare for hunting season. For big hunts of things like elk and stags, the reminder isn’t needed… but every once in a while we like to remind people that it is still good to get outdoors where you are. Shooting outside, as many bugs and as much sweltering heat as there may be, makes us stronger shooters and better outdoorsmen and women. For the Savannah shoot we’re expecting men women and child archers from every skill level which is why we have multiple courses ranging from beginner to pro to impossible!

You know what that means — the iron cross is making a comeback so be prepared to loose some arrows or bring a few you don’t mind damaging. A few groups are brave enough to take a shot and so far the number of passing archers is only about 10.

Like all of our events, this stop is for families. But this one is a little different. We are making all courses completely free to all active members of military. The promo code is on our social media so any active military and their families can come shoot free of charge, whether first time archers or competitive pros. With every step of our business we try to give back to our community - this is a special way we hope to give back to those who pledge their lives to our country.

All veterans, including disabled veterans, are also welcomed to come shoot or learn how. This event is completely open to handicapped archers and/or outdoorsmen. Our staff will be on hand to help instruct and aid, and we have plenty of bows and releases to switch out to find the most comfortable fit. In addition, we have several heavy-duty track wheel chairs so anyone can move smoothly through our course!

We can’t wait to see you in Savannah in just a few weeks! It may be a shoot for the southern bowhunter but don’t be fooled. The shots will be epic, the prizes grand, and the people more outstanding than ever. We can’t wait to see you there!
