BOWTREADER WEEKLY: Time to Get Fishing!

The weather is officially warm. The 3D tour is on a roll, the garden is greener than ever and the only thing we are missing? You guessed it. Fishing!

We just hate to say it is our favorite time of year… but there aren’t many better things you can be doing when it is hot outside and the bugs have started biting. Our advice to beat the heat is to find a body of water that will hold a boat and take your rod and reel. Speaking of which, there was a pond at our last 3D tour destination and you can bet we snuck ours over. Ever since then, every pond and lake seems a little more enticing. It's time to fill up our tackle boxes and go!

The Bowtreader family has an opinion about just about everything. It isn’t that all of us have a diehard loyalty to specific sports teams or staunchly shoot a certain brand of bow… but when you put all of us together, there is always someone to ask who will give you an unshakable opinion on at least one topic. 

The Dub is our fishing guy (as well as knife guy) and this is what he has to say about the equipment we have in our store. Whatever you are hoping to catch, come in our store and he will get you set up!

#1 The Favorite Fishing Ol' Salty Spinning Combo is built for fishing even in rough conditions. It’s one of our nicest fishing rods, and its carbon rod and cork handle make it both sleek and functional. Every aspect is thoughtfully designed which makes it the most durable rod we’ve carried. Whatever type of fish you are going for, this rod is our first pic!

#2 There is something about shrimp poboys that gets fish biting! Trout Trick’s Fish Poboy bait is our favorite universal lewer. It works great for fresh water and shoreline fishing… and the name makes The Dub love it all the more!

#3 Everyone wants fishing line that is thin, strong, and almost invisible. With Power Pro lines, that is exactly what you are getting. It is extremely durable and easy to use. All of us use it and it does the job beautifully!

#4 Vudu shrimp lures are easily our favorite in the store! For salt water, they are colorful and lightweight, and their movement never fails to get fish’s attention. Our guys have used them both inshore and in deeper waters and they never disappoint!

 #5 Another one of our favorites for deep sea fishing is the Heddon Super Spook! Its shape and length makes it easy to cast and it issues rattling noises to grab the fish’s attention. On rougher days on the ocean or cluttered areas, this one is a classic go-to. Its color and noise make it easy for fish to detect on anything from rough seas to oyster beds… and for RedFish especially it is irresistible!

#6 If this isn’t on every fishermen’s list… it definitely should be. We have been repeatedly impressed with the effectiveness of Bubba knives in everything from cleaning fish to processing game meat. This package in our store comes with a Bubba handle that can be fitted with interchangeable blades for every job. For versatility, there is no better outdoorsmen package in the store! (And it would make a great Father’s Day gift…)

#7 Finally, our two favorite tackle bags! These are equally effective depending on how much tackle you are hoping to carry. The Calcutta is our favorite for compact storage and quick trips while the Insight comes with plenty of compartments for long hours offshore! Both come with long, strap on handles which make them easy to carry!
